DON'T GIVE LEFTOVERS

MEMORY VERSE: - Genesis 4:3-4 - "In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions.”

Giving God our best should be our top priority. Cain and Abel both brought offerings to God from their products, but while one's offering was accepted, the other was rejected. Yes! God accepted only Able's offering but rejected that of Cain. “And the LORD had regard for Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering he had no regard” (Gen 4:5).

Why was Cain's offering rejected?

Abel did not only give God the firstborn of his flocks, He gave God his very best. Cain, on the other hand, gave a sacrifice that wasn’t respected by God. Cain keep the best for himself and gave God his rotten produce. In other words, he gave God his leftovers, the ones he wasn't in need of. And God said to him, “If you do well, will you not be accepted” (Gen 4:7).

So, Cain gave God his leftovers and was rejected. When we give God our “leftovers” it shows where our loyalty lies and how our heart is like. Cain's heart was evil thus, he gave badly. Remember that God looks at the heart and that He's all knowing so you can’t fool Him. He sees our hearts and motives, He knows what we are capable of and all our doings. 

By giving God our leftovers, we are belittling Him, treating Him as unimportant, and as the last in our lives. We need to start putting God as #1 priority, and give Him that which is due Him that we may truly receive all the blessings He has for us.

PRAYER

Father in heaven, honor to your name, this day, I repent for my wrong attitude of giving to you badly, please forgive my selfishness, cleanse my heart from every form of wickedness in Jesus name, Amen.
