QUENCH NOT THE SPIRIT
QUENCH NOT THE SPIRIT
MEMORY VERSE: - 1 Thessalonians 5:19 - “Do not quench the Spirit"
The Greek word for “Quench” is "SBENNUMI" which means “to extinguish” or “to put out.” The word was used to refer to putting out fires, sparks, or the putting out of a lamp.
Now, Paul in the text above is advising us not to put out the sparks of the Holy Spirit in us. There are several ways through which the believer can quench the Spirit and one of those is prayerlessness. Many are too weak in prayer, they prefer others to pray for them rather than doing it themselves.
Prayer is fellowship, it is communion, it is that special moment we discuss with God. Moreover, prayer is the weapon of our warfare through which we deal with things that come to trouble us. We are to pray at all times, whether we feel like it or not. Even as Paul told us, "Pray without ceasing" 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Child of God, we must keep the Flem of the fellowship of the Holy Spirit burning, we must not allow the world's pressure to Silent us. We must not allow the fire of our prayers to go down, we should never give the challenges of life the opportunity to weaken us rather we are to change things through prayer.
Just like Jesus admonished us in Luke 18 :1 "That men ought always to pray, and not to faint" Yes! We must not lose heart, we must not get tired or weary, but must keep the Flem of our prayer burning continuously.
PRAYER
I want to thank you Lord for loving me, thank you for the wonderful things you're doing in my life. And now oh Lord, I pray for my prayer life to be quickened, in Jesus name, Amen
