A LIVING SACRIFICE 2


MEMORY VERSE: - Romans 12:1 - “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship."

As believers, how do we consecrate and offer ourselves to God as a living sacrifice? We do that by not conforming to this world as our memory verse tells us. To be conformed is to be fashioned as, to imitate, and to adapt. In order word we are not to do things as the people of the world do, we must not follow the systems and standards of this world.

The world is defined for us in 1 John 2:15-16 as “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.” All that the world has to offer can be reduced to these three things. The lust of the flesh includes everything that appeals to our appetites and involves excessive desires; such as immorality, drunkenness, and anything else that satisfies physical needs. 

Lust of the eyes mostly involves materialism, coveting whatever we see that we don’t have and envying those who have what we want. 

The pride of life is defined by any ambition for that which puffs us up and puts us on the throne of our own lives. It is putting confidence in what one possesses, it is trusting in material gain, it is to have self-importance. All these we must guide against so as to be a living sacrifice

 PRAYER 
Most Holy Father, I submit my desires to you, I lay them down at your altar, take away anything in me that stands against my becoming a living sacrifice in Jesus’ name, Amen

But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day"   A lot of people pray but do not believe they can have the answer to their request immediately. Their faith is always in the future. The mindset of future has kept them from embracing that which is theirs at the moment. Thus, they neglect the place of faith in the now of today’s experience. While Martha could only think of the future as the only time her brother could rise again from the dead, Jesus was seeing it happening in the moment.
