YOU ARE NOT OF THE WORLD

MEMORY VERSE: - John 17:14 – 16, “I have given them your Word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world.”

In thi passage, Jesus made us to understand that we are not of the world. Now some have misunderstood and misapplied this scripture, taking it to mean that for the reason that we are not of this world, thus we do not need the blessings of God in this world. Notice that He didn’t say, “Not In” but He rightly said, “Not Of”

Now to understand what Jesus is saying let us look at the text in John 17:11. “And I am no more in the world, but these are in the world….” Before we can talk about not of the world, let's look at “In the world” phrase first: “These are in the world” is talking about point of location, the place where one physically resides and functions at. But the fact that you are in a location is not necessarily that you are from there, you can come from west but resides in the south. 

So, the matter on ground is not about our location but about our place of citizenship, our source of supply and our source of information which detects how we live in a location. A representative of a country in another country is an ambassador. He or she lives in the country of his or her assignment but is not from that location and thus does not take instruction from there nor function like the people in that place of his or her service. 

They operate according to their country's standard of living even though they are in another location; they get their supplies from their country, and they take instructions from their country. You are not of this world but of heaven, so live like a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20).

Lord Jesus, I am so glad to be a citizen of heaven, this day I ask for wisdom, grace to operate like heaven’s citizen in Jesus’ name, Amen
