 FRUITS OF REPENTANCE

MEMORY VERSE: - Luke 3:8 – “Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance….”

A person who repents is one that have a change of mind, one who is remorseful and one who relinquishes any practice from conviction that it has offended God. Although many claim to be in Christ, yet, they are still same in attitude and actions as they were before coming to Christ, nothing changed. Their life doesn’t showcase that they belong to Him, therefore, there is no fruits of repentance. 

A person who repents must implement his or her repentance in their actions. Your fruits of repentance are clearly shown in your actions otherwise, repentance becomes pointless. The fruit of our actions shows what kind of person we really are. An apple tree will bring forth apples, not watermelons. If our lives have really been touched by Christ, it will show in the fruit we bear.

The process of repentance is where we allow the word to pass through and through us. We must avoid becoming too familiar with the word that we get to the point where it does not mean anything to us anymore. This was the position the pharisees found themselves that they became empty and miss the mark. This brought them into false religion, mediocre and hypocrisy.

By calling on us to bring forth fruits of repentance, it means we must live godly in Christ. Even as Paul admonished in 1Timothy 4:7, “Train yourself to godliness” We must come to that realization that as one who is saved and made new in Christ, we must turn away from those things that Christ saved us from. Our desire must be geared towards Christ likeness.

 PRAYER 

Father in the name of your son Jesus, I come with humility of heart and repent from my wrong actions that have stood against you. I begin from this day to produce fruits worthy of repentance, Amen.
