 THE SHEPHERD LORD

MEMORY VERSE: - Psalm 23:1 - "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."

Who is a shepherd? A person who tends, herds, feeds, or guards herds of sheep... Or a person who protects, guides, or watches over a person or group of people.

David declared the Lord to be his Shepherd instead of man because firstly, as one who trusted in the Lord to take care of him in every way, he was well cared for. The Lord provided him with all his needs and supplied all his wants, wherefore he said, "I shall not want."

Certainly, no one who trusts' in the Lord is disappointed. The scripture says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;" Proverbs 3:5. To lean is to depend, to rely on, to put ones confidence in, count on, bank on.

If you trust someone to do something, you believe that they will do it. Because you believe in, have faith in, depend on, count on that person. So, when you trust God, you believe, have faith and you know that you can count on Him to help you and grant your request.

Assuredly, you can always depend on God in a crisis. You depend on Him to keep his promises. But you can't always depend on man because they will fail you. A lot of people claim to be trusting in God while in the actual sense their trust is truly in man, and they get disappointed.

Secondly, David knew the Lord will always help him no matter the circumstances... Thus, he looked unto Him no matter what. Hence he said, I will lift up my eyes to the hills....

Thirdly, He knows the Lord will always lead him to the right place where he will enjoy good success. Thus he declared in the next line, "He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters" Make the Lord your shepherd today.

 PRAYER

Thank you heavenly father for being my shepherd, guiding and taking care of all my needs. And now, I trust you for greater heights, deeper insight in Jesus name, Amen
