GRACE FOR GOOD WORKS

MEMORY VERSE: - Ephesians. 2:10 - “For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Paul made us to know that “Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation” that is to say, they are new breeds, new species of beings. Why did God take out time to recreate us? Is it for us to continue in our old ways and live like everyone else in the world? The answer is no. God's purpose for recreating us is for us to be His representative on earth, to do His will, to live out His life on earth.

Therefore, we are not recreated to live like every other person in the world; but to affect the world positively, to make a difference, to make impact through living a godly life. The power to do good works has been given to us; it is the grace of God which enables us to achieve what the ordinary man could not do.

Peter in 1Peter 3:10 said, “Anyone that desires life and wants to see good days in his life should depart from evil and do good..." By doing good deeds we are living out God's Word and life in the world. Whosoever that refuses to live in the truth of His Word is inviting evil days into his or her life. God's will is that we have good life and prosper in all our ways, but we are left to make a choice with the right to choose if we want it or not.

Grace is the power of God in our new birth experiences that enables us do good works, it helps us to live rightly and shine forth as lights in a world full of darkness. Light overshadows darkness, and as light overshadows darkness so also good deeds overcome evil.

Due to the evil nature that replaced God's nature at the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, mankind could not do the good works he was created for. This was why God's grace, had to come. Through grace, our past is cleansed and we are brought into our original place in God to do the good things that He created us to do.


PRAYER

Heavenly father, I am grateful for your love and grace. I submit to your grace today to help me do the good works I’ve been created in Christ to do in Jesus’ name, Amen
