GUARD AGAINST ROOT OF BITTERNESS 3


MEMORY VERSE: - Hebrews 12:15 - "Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled."

The enemy cannot come in unless he finds an opening and bitterness is one major opening point for him. You open the door for root of bitternessl through many ways one of which is unforgiveness. Jesus told us, “Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses” (Mark 11:25-26)

Unforgiveness stands as a barrier to one's prayers. You can pray innumerable prayers, fast many days, the truth still remains that God will not hear your prayers when you have unforgiveness in your life. Forgiveness is a condition for our prayers to be answered. 

Those who are given to unforgiveness often think that their bitterness and refusal to forgive will make the other person suffer unfortunately, that's not the case, rather, it is the unforgiving person who suffers. Their relationship with God's Holy Spirit is dented, because they grieve Him by their unforgiveness character.

Unforgiveness is as a result of pride and like the scripture says, "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall," (Pro. 16:18). It is also self destructive and poisonous to the soul that bears it.

PRAYER
Father God, I thank you for your mercies.
I pray this day that you have mercy on me and pardon my sin of unforgiveness. I hereby forgive and let go all those I've been bitter against in Jesus name, Amen
