DESTROYING THE YOKE OF CURSES

MEMORY VERSE: - Deuteronomy 33:6 - "Let "Reuben live, and not die; and let not his men be few."

What is a curse? A curse is a negative word spoken against someone or something. It's an invocation or an utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something. A lot of people are suffering from the infliction of curses made either directly on them or from family generational curses.

There was the story of Ruben in Genesis 49, where his father Jacob decreed an evil decree on him. He began by letting him know his rightful position in the family, "You are my first son.... the excellency of power" (Vs 3). But then, in verse 4 he pronounced or invoked an evil invocation on him that were to affect his generations in life. 

He said, "Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch." Although Ruben did something terribly wrong against his father that provoked him to doing what he did; yet, he did not find a place of repentance in his heart before his father. 

Even as the father was decreeing such an evil decree on him, Ruben still did not bow in humility before the father to seek for mercy and forgiveness. Peradventure the father would have forgiven him and revoked the curse that was placed on him. Instead, he left his father's presence a cursed man. Listen, a lot of people are going through things they ought not to be going through because of pride. They find it so hard to apologize over their wrong actions. 

Note that the place of humility and repentance cannot be undermine. We must learn to arrest situations in time by doing the needful. When there's a curse in a life, he or she will function under difficulty. Most people who suffered rejection and consistent disappointment is as a result of curses. Until one surrender his or her life to Christ and rise up in prayer against curses and destroy it's stronghold, they may continue to function under the effects of curses.


PRAYER 

Father Lord I thank you for the new life in Christ and now in the name of Jesus, I destroyed the stronghold of curses in any area of my life and family, Amen!!
