THE LORD GIVES GOOD THINGS

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 85:12 - "Yes, the LORD will give what is good; And our land will yield its increase."

God is a good God and He is a giver of good things. It's a pity that some believers do not see God as the giver of good things but only see Him as the one who causes bad things to happen to them. They see Him as the one who puts sicknesses and deceases on them, they see Him as the giver of calamities, shame and mockery.

Some see Him as the One who gives what is evil and the One who takes pleasure in their failures and poverty. But as I look into God's Word, I still saw it saying that "the Lord takes pleasure in the prosperity of His children" (Psalm 35:27). He rejoices when His children succeeds, excel and prosper in life.

He earnestly desires to see His goodness in the life of His children. He wants to see them taking leadership positions in this world so that they may execute judgment in righteousness and set up a standard that will bring joy to the people. Just as the wise man wrote in Proverbs 29:2 "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."

Moreover, in Psalm 84:11, we read, "For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity" (BSB). As the giver of good things, the heavenly Father does not hold back anything good from His children. All that He has is theirs, hence He gave them the earth and all that is in it as their possession.

Psalms 115:16 says, "The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord's: but the earth hath He given to the children of men." So while God rules over the heaven of heavens, He put us in charge of the earth. Everything in it is for our benefit. Now, tell me, is it not a good thing that is given to us?

Therefore, child of God, stop seeing God in the wrong way, see His as He is: the giver of good things. Truly, God does not give us evil and then look out to see how much we suffer. Rather, He saves us from the evil that the wicked one brings to us.


PRAYER

Thank you Lord God for giving me that which is good and blessing me in the earth. As I go out today, I will prosper in all that I do in Jesus name, Amen.
