 IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS 


MEMORY VERSE: Romans 4:36 - “For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness even as David also describe the blessedness of a man unto whom God imputed righteousness without works” (KJV).

By virtue of our faith in Christ, we have been credited with God's righteousness, made holy, and set apart unto the Lord. Because of Jesus’ position as our righteousness, we have become upright and in right standing with God. No man can work righteousness, it is totally the work of grace.

 Thus, Righteousness is what we are in Christ and not something we are trying to become. Wherefore the scripture in 2 Corinthians 5:21, "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him". 

One thing among the various aspects of God's nature that came into the life of the believer is His righteousness that came through His grace, an undeserved or unmerited righteousness. It is a righteousness given because we believed in the Son, righteousness that is credited to our account without our doing anything right or working to gain it. 

For God is righteous and has made us righteous through faith in the Son. In this righteousness the imperfect is made perfect in God's sight. Rest comes to the soul that receives it from searching and trying to work in order to attain righteousness. Imputed righteousness is the nature of God in the believer that enables him or her to live right.

As a result of this added righteousness, we are now able to stand and live rightly in God's presence without filth or guilt-consciousness. Oh, what a treasure it is to be brought from the darkness of unbelief to the light of faith, peace and joy in Christ.


 PRAYER 

Most Holy Father, I'm so grateful for your gift of righteousness in me. Now I have free conscience to stand before you and to live a life that glorifices you in Jesus name, Amen
