 THE REVERENTIAL FEAR OF THE LORD


MEMORY VERSE: - Proverbs 1:7 - “The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline.” (AMP).

Righteous Living Begins with The Reverential Fear of the Lord. The reverential fear of the Lord is a priority for living a righteous and holy life. We are separated from the world, chosen and sanctified, to live a holy life - in thought, deed, action, motive, character, speech and habits. This might seem difficult with man's strength knowing that he is weak and fragile, but God supplies us with grace to achieve them.

The reverential fear of God is the basis for our respecting him, obeying Him, walking in his ways, living in his purpose for us, doing his will, serving him and loving Him. Loving involves loving what he loves and hating what he hates. Knowing that God loves and cares for us, the believer is not to be scared of God. 

We have no reason to be scared of him, what he has shown and done for us is LOVE and “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love” 1 John 4:18.

The believer does not worship God with fear of judgement and destruction, the believer's fear is piety, devotion, respect or reverence for God. Thus, they worship in thankfulness and awe of him. “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe." Hebrews 12:28.
Hence, we need to know God and understand whom he is in order for us to be able to worship him in reverence and awe

 PRAYER
Father in heaven, thank you for who you are and I pray that you cause me to know and understand who you are that I may worship from the right perspective, Amen.

Their faith is always in the future. The mindset of future has kept them from embracing that which is theirs at the moment. Thus, they neglect the place of faith in the now of today’s experience.
