KEEP YOUR PRAYER FLAME BURNING 3

MEMORY VERSE: - Leviticus 6:12 - "The fire on the altar is to be kept burning; it must not go out....."

Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:6 “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands” (KJV). One of the ways we can keep the flame burning is by stirring up our inner man through praying in the spirit or praying in the heavenly language or as it is popularly known, praying in tongues.

In 1 Corinthians 14:2 Paul made us to understand that when we are praying in the spirit, we are speaking mysteries in the spirit. "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."

Certainly, the devil doesn't understand this our heavenly language, and so, it takes him off balance. Wherefore, knowing the power of praying in the spirit, Paul was determined to pray and sing in the spirit, "....I will pray in the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing in the spirit....." (1 Corinthians 14:15).

Ephesians 6:18 tells us, "Pray at all times in the Spirit.... ". Furthermore, Jude says, “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost" (Jude 20). Praying in the spirit will help you stir up your spirit man and in doing so, you are building up your faith at the same time you are stirring up his gift of the Holy Spirit in you.

When you pray in the spirit, you are charging your spirit. Just like you charge your phone battery to have full bar and be able to function. So also you charge your spirit through praying in spirit so that you will be able to function rightly.

Notice that Paul didn't tell Timothy to ask God to come and stir up the spirit for him but told him to stir it up himself. They are some that have formed the habit of asking God to do everything for them, they don't take responsibility of doing anything for themselves. You are the one to stir up your spirit through praying in the spirit.


PRAYER

Thank you my Father for your love. This day I arise in the power of the Holy Spirit and I receive utterance to pray in the spirit in Jesus name, Amen.
