SEEING THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD

MEMORY VERSE: - Psalm 27:13 - "I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living." (NASB).

To be despaired in our text is to be wearied, to faint, to loss hope or to give up. In Christ Jesus, giving up is never an option. No matter what one may be facing, it is expected of him or her to stand in faith and hope for the best. 

The psalmist said, the reason why he didn't go into despair was because he believed that he will see the goodness of the Lord. This showed that he went through some difficult times that could have made him to faint in heart and maybe go into depression.

But he refused to be negative rather he saw good in the midst of all the bad things around him. He saw the capability of his Father in heaven that can bring about a change in any situation, wherefore, he channeled his focus on the goodness of the Lord. In the place of struggle he saw favour. In rejection he saw acceptance. In trouble he saw peace. 

A lot of people go into depression because of the way they deal with issues. As a result, they will become despaired and will end up being exactly where the enemy wants them to be. 

In NET Bible translation, Psalm 27:13 is translated thus, "Where would I be if I did not believe I would experience the LORD's favor in the land of the living?" Oh yes, where would he had been? Of course he would have been a looser, a failure, and maybe dead.

But thanks be to God that he made a choice to not pay attention to what was happening around him but chose to put his confidence in seeing the goodness, the favor, the blessings of the Lord.

Interestingly, he wasn't seeing the storm taking his life but saw life and victory, hence he said, "In the land of the living" This is our right in Christ.... Our portion in him is to see His goodness in the land of the living.


PRAYER

Father Lord, I thank you for your loving kindness. Today, I declare that I will see your goodness, favor and miraculous things in the land of the living in Jesus name, Amen.
